Taíba is in São Gonçalo do Amarante, about an hour from Fortaleza, and is the choice for those wanting to ride near the capital without Cumbuco’s crowds. The village is small, the beach is long and the seasonal wind arrives steady.
The spot
Taíba has open sea, with waves much of the year, and calmer areas depending on tide and season. It’s a versatile place: experienced riders enjoy the sea and waves, while beginners take lessons at times and in areas the school chooses.
Sitting on the route between Fortaleza and west coast spots, Taíba often fits into downwind routes and kite trips along the coast.
For whom
- Experienced riders: open sea and waves with few people in the water.
- Beginners: with a school, at times and conditions chosen for learning.
- Short on time: close to Fortaleza airport.
Best season
Season generally runs from July to January, with steadier wind between August and November.
How to get there
From Fortaleza, Taíba is about an hour’s drive. It’s a good base if you also want to visit Cumbuco, which is on the way.
Tips
- Keep an eye on waves and currents on rougher sea days.
- If you’re just starting, prefer the times recommended by the school.
