How we choose the schools
Each destination guide recommends one local kitesurf school. This page explains how we make that choice and when Brazil Kite earns a commission.
How we choose
We only look at public, verifiable information:
- whether the school is operating this season;
- instructor certification (IKO, ABK or VDWS), when the school states it;
- its location relative to the spot;
- reviews from people who have taken lessons there;
- an official WhatsApp number, published on the school's own website or social media.
Until we find a school that meets these points, the guide says the recommended school is coming soon.
How contacting the school works
At the end of each guide you choose a lesson or rental, and the request opens directly in the school's WhatsApp with the message "Vim pelo site brazilkite.com" ("I came via brazilkite.com"). Price, schedule and payment are agreed between you and the school. Brazil Kite charges you nothing and does not store your data: we only count how many contacts each school received in the month.
Commission
Some recommended schools are Brazil Kite partners and pay us a commission on services booked by people who came through the site. The commission is paid by the school.
Guesthouses, restaurants and data
The guesthouses and restaurants in the guides are chosen for being close to the spot and set up for kiters. Wind data comes from ERA5 (via Open-Meteo) and MET Norway under a CC BY 4.0 license, and the Wikimedia Commons photos are listed with authors and licenses on the photo credits page.
